Business Development and Partnerships Lead at Foundation for Youth Employment Pakistan


FYEP seeks to recruit a Business Development and Partnerships Lead who embodies our values, understands the future challenges and opportunities for business development and is passionate about creating impact in Pakistan’s employment ecosystem.

The Business Development and Partnerships Lead is a full-time leadership role that will report directly to the Country Director Pakistan, with two primary roles.

1) Securing jobs for Generation graduates across a growing employer portfolio

Securing employer commitments to hire graduates of the Generation program is a critical enabler of our high placement rates. As BD Lead you are responsible for maintaining high job attainment rates by identifying and securing vacancies for graduates from among our network of employer partners, as well as growing this network in its own right. You are further tasked with identifying opportunities for Generation to embed our methodology in the recruiting and training processes of large private sector employers.

2) Forging and managing institutional partnerships for FYEP

Institutional partners (funders, government, training organizations, corporates) provide FYEP with much needed financing and infrastructure to deliver our programs. For example, philanthropic funders provide grants, corporations and associations provide access to new employer networks. As Partnerships Lead you are responsible for identifying new target partners, developing relationships and securing formal agreements to collaborate with these institutions, delivering the resourcing that FYEP needs to achieve our ambitious impact targets.

LOCATION: The position will be based in Lahore. The position could involve traveling nationally for 50% of the time.

REPORTING: The position will report to the Country Director Pakistan.

SALARY: The position will be a full-time, permanent post with traditional benefits. Salary will be commensurate with experience and competitive.

Foundation for Youth Employment Pakistan (FYEP) is a not for profit in Pakistan registered in 2018 under section 42 of the Companies Act of 2017. We are serving as technical advisors to the Punjab Skills Development Fund, a US$200 million not-for-profit Fund set up by the Government of Punjab in partnership with DFID to develop vocational skills for poor and vulnerable youth in Punjab.

To be successful you'll need:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of related work experience.
  • Sales and/or fundraising experience required, with a proven track record of success. Experience raising funds from public and philanthropic sources highly desirable.
  • Proven track record of success in cultivating and managing complex programmatic partnerships
  • Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment and manage an extremely high-volume workload at a fast pace with strong attention to detail and a high bar for quality
  • Exceptional ability to build relationships and influence and inspire diverse stakeholders in a range of geographic, cultural and industry contexts
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, particularly written communication
  • Ability to set vision and direction and inspire others around that vision
  • Strong strategic problem-solver and innovative thinker
  • Data-driven approach in presenting/influencing and informing decisions

What you'll do:

EMPLOYER RELATIONSHIPS

  • Secure employer commitments to hire graduates, with a target of 3 vacancies for every 2 learners to be secured ahead of graduation, and with a particular focus in microfinance, retail, and other service related industries
  • Diversify the FYEP network of employer partners to grow our pipeline of vacancies, and institute meaningful follow-up with employers to increase repeat hiring
  • Ensure employer data is captured before and (ongoing) after placement, such that FYEP is able to articulate ROI achieved by hiring employers (e.g., performance of graduates vs. job peers; reduction in churn)


PARTNERSHIP PORTFOLIO DEVELOPMENT

  • Develop and evolve a partnership strategy for enabling FYEP to reach its impact goals, including lists of target partners and in line with funding needs
  • Be a credible external representative of FYEP in the education, employment and skilling community, and particularly with potential partners in private, public and third sectors
  • Lead efforts to raise the private, public and philanthropic funding necessary to operate at current scale in Pakistan and catalyze new programs, with a particular focus on European Social Funds
  • Lead the end-to-end process of securing institutional partnerships for FYEP, including exploratory discussions, conducting negotiations and formulating innovative proposals/concept notes/MOUs
  • Ensure effective hand-off of new partnerships to operational team at point of confirmation
  • Partner with and leverage the Country Director Pakistan and Board to identify, access and cultivate new target partner prospects
  • Ensure all relevant legal documentation with respect to relationships with external stakeholders is completed, up to date and appropriately stored


EXTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS

  • Develop opportunities to publicize the mission and work of FYEP with existing and new potential partners, whether employers or institutional (e.g., conferences, campaigns)
  • Ensure that FYEP team is fully equipped with external collateral (e.g., presentations, proposals, videos) that clearly and effectively articulate the latest view of our mission, program activities and impact to date

  • Build a team for support in Business Development and Partnerships
  • Managing, develop and coaching team to achieve ambitious growth targets
