Richard Clemmons

Richard Clemmons is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Generation USA. As the COO, he is the corporate executive who oversees ongoing business operations within the organization which include Budgeting and Forecasting, Financial Operations, Operations & Administration and Data Systems & Analysis.

Prior to coming to Generation USA, Richard was the COO of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). Prior to joining NSBE, Richard started his own non-profit organization called Winning2gether. Winng2gether focuses on youth empowerment. Prior to that, he was the COO of the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies. He was also the Vice President and Chief of Staff of the United Negro College Fund (UNCF).

Prior to his non-profit experience, Richard spent over twenty years as an officer in the United States Navy. In that capacity, he served as the Commander of Destroyer Squadron 31, where he commanded, developed, and trained 2,000 personnel on eight ships deployed to Southeast Asia. He also served as the Commanding Officer of USS ROOSEVELT (a guided missile destroyer with a crew of 31 officers and 282 enlisted personnel). As Commanding Officer of USS ROOSEVELT, he received the Vice Admiral James B. Stockdale Award for inspirational leadership.

Richard Clemmons is a graduate of Florida A&M University where he received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He received a master’s degree in Public Administration from Auburn University and a master’s degree in National Security from the Air Command and Staff College.
