Metlife Foundation and Generation Expand Global Partnership to Accelerate Career Opportunities in Tech, Care, and AI

Renewed collaboration builds on five years of impact, aiming to reach hundreds of additional learners in Chile, Australia, and across the globe through 2026.

Metlife Foundation and Generation Expand Global Partnership to Accelerate Career Opportunities in Tech, Care, and AI

MetLife Foundation and Generation are pleased to announce the continuation of our global partnership to support individuals in gaining the skills and employment opportunities needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world of work. Since beginning our work together in 2020, we have supported more than 5,500 learners into lasting careers in high-growth, high-wage sectors, and published two major research reports on the future of tech hiring and the ways artificial intelligence is affecting entry-level workers globally.

The 2026 expansion comes during the 50th year of MetLife Foundation and focuses on three key pillars designed to address critical labor shortages and the rise of AI:

  • Accelerating Tech Careers in Chile: Supporting 100 young adults (ages 18–35), out of which 50% identify themselves as women or members of the LGBTIQ community, to double their income as they transition into life-changing digital and tech roles, resulting in long-term economic mobility.
  • Scaling Care Programs in Australia: Training and placing 40-50 individuals from low-income communities into full-time care-sector careers with sustaining wages and benefits, building a stable future for themselves and an estimated 60-80 family members.
  • Building Global AI Skills: Creating 20-25 hours of new curriculum to equip Generation’s global network of learners with the AI skills necessary for a modern job search, including using AI for resumes, interview prep, and job matching. The content will be piloted with 300-500 learners in 2026, and thereafter rolled out to reach thousands of learners annually.

“Our work with MetLife Foundation focuses on delivering measurable, long-term impact on employment, income, and well-being,” said Mona Mourshed, founding global CEO of Generation. “By expanding our work to include critical sectors like care and tech, and further integrating AI into our global curriculum, we are ensuring that our learners are not just finding jobs but building sustainable careers.”

The partnership’s track record includes supporting over 3,500 graduates in India in 2020-2022 with a 90% job placement rate and reaching 2,000 learners across 12 countries with AI Generalist curricula in 2025 alone. This new phase of work will continue to prioritize underrepresented groups, while involving MetLife employees through volunteer mentorship and mock interviews.

MetLife Foundation and Generation remain committed to helping people around the world to achieve career success and drive economic mobility for themselves, their families, and their communities through their partnership.

“I wasn’t living, I was merely surviving. I couldn’t rely on a steady salary. I felt like I was wasting my time,” said Angie, a Generation graduate from Chile. But now she says, “I’m not just surviving anymore, I’m living, thanks to Generation.” Discover her story at the following link.
