“Thanks to my effort and all the support I received on this journey, I achieved things I never imagined and transformed my family’s reality.”

At 25, Francielli lives in Baixada Fluminense, Rio de Janeiro, and discovered the technology sector as her gateway to transforming both her personal and professional life.

She credits Generation Brazil’s JavaScript program, which she joined in 2024, as the turning point that helped her envision a brighter future at a critical time.

“Generation appeared in my life at a very delicate moment. I was facing depression, was frustrated professionally and financially, and didn’t know where to start over. Then I came across an ad for the program on social media. A simple ad that managed to give my life a boost and bring a lot of hope.”

Challenges and support

Her self-employed father and her mother, a manicurist, always made a point of supporting her studies. Through perseverance and dedication, Francielli was accepted into a pharmacy program at a public university. However, a prolonged strike in 2024 disrupted her plans and forced her to reconsider her future. Struggling with doubts and depression, Francielli began to see technology as a promising new direction.

When she was selected for the free three-month Generation program, in a class funded by Prudential, Francielli felt motivated not only by the technical learning but also by the welcoming environment and constant support from the team.

“During the program, I lost a beloved family member and felt the greatest pain in the world. I even thought about giving up the course, but no one let go of my hand: teachers, psychologists, mentors, and classmates were a strong support network, giving me the structure and support to keep going. That really changed my life,” she recalls emotionally.

A new path

Even with so many obstacles, her dedication began to pay off. Just one month after completing the program, she landed her first job in technology.

Two years after finishing the Generation course, she celebrates having a formal job as a Junior Data Engineer at the very company where she began as an intern. She’s preparing to move into her own apartment (purchased with her own earnings) and will soon graduate in Systems Analysis and Development from a private institution at the end of 2026.

“I am the professional I am today thanks to Generation and its programs that welcome people in vulnerable situations. Without Generation, it would have been much harder to achieve my goals. I am very grateful for this opportunity.”
