Welbert | Generation Brazil

Welbert is 32 years old, lives in Brasília, and over the past year, he has taken a major turn in his professional life, which makes him talk about his recent journey with contagious excitement.

“I have a formal job now and benefits I never imagined, like health insurance for me and my daughter. It’s a new feeling to wake up before the alarm goes off every day and feel happy to go to work. I want to keep building my sales career and study even more. This is where I found myself,” he says enthusiastically.

Born and raised in Brazil’s capital by a single mother along with three siblings, Welbert says he grew up in a financially challenging environment, despite all his mother’s efforts. She is clearly his inspiration because of the dedication she always showed in her work, both in general services and cooking.

Overcoming Obstacles

Since finishing school, Welbert has worked as a machine operator, stock assistant, bartender, waiter, and app-based delivery driver for more than five years. It was while working as an app delivery driver that he received a notification about Generation Brasil’s free four-week sales program. “Without much hope, I applied and couldn’t believe it when I was selected,” he recalls.

The program was a partnership between Generation Brasil, Ambev and Zé Delivery. Welbert says classes took place online every morning, and to participate, he relied on his mother’s help, since the schedule made it impossible to work lunch-hour deliveries—when, according to him, he earned a significant part of his income.

“I thought about giving up because of the financial difficulties, especially since I have a five-year-old daughter, but my mother supported me financially and encouraged me not to give up. So, I focused on finishing the course well and dedicating myself as much as possible to that opportunity.”

A New Beginning

The opportunity to take the Generation program came as a ray of hope during a year filled with personal challenges, including the divorce from his daughter’s mother and a car accident in which he broke seven ribs. “Everyone in Generation was extremely supportive, from the selection process to the employability staff who gave me the best news I could hope for: an interview to work at Ambev right after finishing the course.”

Welbert now works as a Sales Representative at Ambev and hopes to continue performing well and dedicating himself every day to his new professional journey.

“It wasn’t just my quality of life that improved a lot. I also changed a lot, for the better—in the way I see life, my responsibilities, and how I look at my future. I want to go to university in a field related to sales and keep meeting targets and growing in my job. I am very grateful to Generation and everyone who was part of this program that changed my life.”
