Awa | France

Meet Awa, a graduate of Generation France’s Customer Care program now working at Boxtal, which is a cloud-based multi-carrier shipping solution for ecommerce.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your career path?

I enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree which I followed for two years, but reconciling my studies with my family life was rather complicated. I started working different jobs, without really knowing what I wanted to do with my career, until I received an email from Generation about a Customer Care program they were about to launch.

What have you learned during the training program?

I learned how to create a bond with customers and how to nurture relationships. I also learned to put myself in other people’s shoes, to find solutions to their issues.

What helped me the most was the encouragement our instructor gave us to help build our self-confidence. Also, the job searching tips I received were very useful. I kept in touch with my mentor even after graduating from the training program.

The whole Generation team was there for us from start to finish, and even afterwards to keep us motivated and to provide us with the most suitable job opportunities.

What happened after you graduated from the training program?

Thanks to Generation France’s program I was recruited by a company called Boxtal.

I met my future colleagues two weeks before officially starting, over a drink. I couldn’t have wished for a better start.

What I like the most about the organization is the fact that my colleagues are very passionate about what they do.

What would you say to someone who is interested to join a Generation program?

I would tell them to go for it because in this program you will learn a lot about yourself and the experience in general is very rewarding.

I also think that you should have this deep-seated desire to want to help people. It’s the first step to work in any customer service role, especially if you want to do well.

What is your best moment from your time in the Generation program?

During the training program, two of my colleagues wrote a song about our cohort. It was very touching. It was the moment that brought all of us together.

What are the 3 words that summarize your Generation experience?

Fast, because the program lasts only one month. Useful, because everything I learned during the training I put into practice. Rewarding, both personally and professionally, because right after the training I received several job offers.
