Women Transforming Their Lives

Women Transforming Their Lives

Today, on International Women’s Day, we celebrate the successes of the 79,430 women who have completed Generation programs globally since 2015. They have successfully launched careers in a wide range of fields (including technology, healthcare, green jobs, customer service, and skilled trades), are earning stable salaries, have gained promotions, and have transformed not only their own lives, but the lives of their families.

“On International Women’s Day, we celebrate Generation’s women graduates,” said Generation’s global CEO Mona Mourshed. “These tens of thousands of women are now making an impact across various fields, from technology and healthcare to skilled trades. Prior to Generation, only 8% were employed – 6 months later 66% have found work, and 2-5 years later, 67% of our women graduates are still employed, a remarkable reversal of persistent unemployment. These women are inspiring others by building successful careers and changing the economic reality for themselves and their families,” added Mourshed.

Navigating a host of economic and workforce changes over the last few years, Generation women graduates have continued to make lasting improvements to their financial situation and well-being.

“Because of Generation, and with the job I now have, I was able to achieve a sense of ease, and peace of mind. And, of course, financial stability—stability in every sense.” – Alejandra, Mexico

Before entering Generation’s programs, only 8% of women were employed. Generation’s impact persists: 2-5 years after completing the program, 67% remain employed. Only 19% could meet daily needs before they joined Generation, rising to 42% of women 2-5 years post-graduation.

“Generation gave me skills I never thought I could gain outside a university. I became confident with the help of my mentor, I had a direction, and a new career path. Generation didn’t just give me skills, it gave me hope.” – Emily, Ghana

Enhancing women’s economic participation creates a powerful multiplier effect for society. Research shows that women typically reinvest approximately 90% of their income back into their families, directly improving local health, education, and general welfare. Furthermore, expanding care services and work programs could trigger a global ‘ripple effect,’ potentially generating 300 million new jobs by 2035. Ultimately, supporting women’s financial growth is a strategic investment that strengthens entire national economies.

“Generation made me realize you can do anything as long as you put in the time to do it,” she reflected. “They taught me that you don’t have to be someone you’re not. Just drill deep into who you are and make sure that authenticity is seen.” – Nadia, UK

In our tech programs across 17 countries, 45% of graduates are women and these professions offer particularly strong long-term opportunity – 84% of Generation women tech graduates can meet their daily needs and 55% are able to save for the future.

“Coming from a sunset industry where I don’t see any light at the end of the tunnel to a new industry where I see so many possibilities has been amazing. I’m really grateful to Generation because I managed to find my new job and pivot into the tech industry.” – Carol, Singapore
